SEOComet SEO Toolbar

Check the on-page SEO of the page you’re on in one click. The toolbar reads the page and lists what to fix. No account needed.

Coming soon to the Chrome Web Store

Mock-up of the SEO bar across the top of a web page: status 200, title 58 characters, description 142 characters, canonical pointing to the page itself, and 3 issues.

What it checks

  • Title and meta description, with their lengths
  • Headings, word count, and published and modified dates
  • Canonical, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag, robots.txt and sitemaps
  • Hreflang
  • Structured data (JSON-LD and microdata), with missing required fields
  • Open Graph and X (Twitter) tags, with a share preview
  • Images without alt text, and image file sizes
  • Links: internal, external, nofollow, and broken links when you ask
  • HTTP status, the redirect chain and response headers
  • Core Web Vitals from the Chrome UX Report

The icon badge shows how many issues each page has as you browse. You can also put the HTML the server sent next to the page after JavaScript ran, line by line.

The SEO bar

Turn on the SEO bar with Alt A, or Ctrl ⌘ A on a Mac, for a strip across every page with its status code, title and description length, canonical and issue count. It’s off until you turn it on, and it stays out of the way on web apps like Gmail, YouTube and Google search.

Your data stays in your browser

Nothing is sent to SEOComet. The toolbar talks to the site you’re checking, to Google’s Chrome UX Report API when you ask for Web Vitals, and to the image and link addresses on the page when you press a check button. The toolbar section of the privacy policy has the details.

Something not working? The support page answers the common questions and says what to send us.

The toolbar checks one page at a time. To be told when a site’s sitemap, robots.txt or ads.txt changes, SEOComet can watch it for you, free.
