SEOComet

Keep the seller lines your ad partners pay you through

SEOComet checks ads.txt and app-ads.txt every hour, keeps every version, and tells you when the file goes missing, a line you rely on disappears or a record stops parsing.

Mock-up of an ads.txt diff in SEOComet: a DIRECT line for an ad exchange was removed and a RESELLER line added. SEOComet flags the missing expected line as critical.

What it catches

Buyers check ads.txt before they bid. When a line goes missing or the file disappears, demand from that partner can stop without anyone noticing.

Issues the ads.txt and app-ads.txt check raises
ads.txt missing ads_txt.not_found Critical The file was there on earlier checks and now isn't, or a web page answers in its place. A file that never existed raises nothing.
Expected line missing ads_txt.expected_line_missing Critical A line you said must be present, usually one from an ad partner, isn't in the file. That partner's demand can stop.
Lines that don't parse ads_txt.syntax_error Warning Some lines aren't valid records, and buyers skip lines they can't read. A record is domain, publisher ID, DIRECT or RESELLER, and an optional certification ID.
ads.txt changed ads_txt.changed Info Lines were added or removed since the last check. The diff shows which.

Tell it which lines must stay

Paste the records your ad partners gave you into the monitor’s expected lines, up to 500 of them. SEOComet checks each one is a valid record when you save it, then looks for it on every check. If one is missing, that’s critical, and the incident stays open until the line is back.

A file that used to exist and now doesn’t is critical on every check until it returns. A web page answering with 200 in the file’s place counts as missing too. A file that never existed raises nothing, so sites without ads aren’t nagged.
