Watch pages
Add a list of pages for uptime and the page check in one go, as paths or full addresses, and what SEOComet does with each line.
Updated
A new site gets one uptime check, on its homepage. Watch pages adds more pages in one go, so a pricing page, a sign-up page or your top landing pages get the same uptime and page check as the homepage. These are your watched pages.
Add pages
- Open the site and choose Add check, then Watch pages….
- Paste your pages into Pages, one per line.
- Check the preview under the box, then choose Watch 3 pages (the button shows how many will be added).
The preview counts the pages to add, the ones already watched, lines listed twice and lines that can’t be added, with the reason for each. You can paste up to 200 lines at a time.
Pick pages from your sitemap
When a new site is set up, the Checks page offers Choose what else to watch: the pages in the sitemaps SEOComet found
through robots.txt (or /sitemap.xml), top-level pages first and then the most recently changed. As many as your plan
watches are ticked (3 pages per site on Free, 25 pages per site on Pro and 100 pages per site on Business). Change the ticks and choose Watch. On a paid plan the same card has Add to Slack.
In Watch pages…, Fill from sitemap puts the same pages in the box, as many as still fit, for you to edit before adding. News sitemaps are left out, since articles come and go.
What each line can be
- A path that starts with
/, like/pricing. It’s added to the site’s address. - A full address that starts with
https://orhttp://, likehttps://example.com/contact. - An address without the scheme, if it starts with the site’s host name.
Every page must be on the site’s own host and port. Pages on another host, a subdomain included, can’t be added. Blank lines are ignored.
A page is skipped if it already has an uptime check or appears twice in the list. Upper or lower case in the host and a
trailing slash on the path don’t make a page new, so /pricing and /pricing/ count as the same page.
What happens next
Each new page gets its own uptime check, and gets the same uptime and page check as the home page. Only the homepage also tests the http and www versions of the address. Watched pages run at your plan’s speed for pages (every hour on Free, every 30 minutes on Pro and every 15 minutes on Business), and the first check runs within a few minutes. Every check starts with the default settings; change them on the check’s Settings tab.
If the site is paused, the new checks are added paused too, and start when you resume the site.
Limits
Each page counts toward your plan’s watched pages: 3 pages per site on Free, 25 pages per site on Pro and 100 pages per site on Business. The homepage doesn’t count, and neither do robots.txt, sitemaps, ads.txt, app-ads.txt or SSL.
If the list has more pages than the plan has room for, the preview tells you, and only the first pages up to the limit are added. The rest aren’t added, and the result says how many were over the limit. When the site is already at the limit, the Pages box is disabled and an upgrade prompt shows instead. A check you paused by hand still takes a place.
You need to be able to edit the site to add pages. While a new site is still setting up, Watch pages… can’t be picked yet.
