Deleting your profile or account
What deleting your profile or an account you own removes, what happens to its sites and subscription, and what to do before you delete.
Updated
Your profile and your account are two different things. Your profile is your login: your name, email address and password. Your account holds your sites, alerts, team and billing.
Delete your profile
- Open the menu under your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Profile.
- Press Delete profile.
- Enter your password to confirm.
Deleting your profile:
- removes your login and signs you out
- takes you out of every account you’re in
- deletes each account you own where you’re the only person, with its sites, checks and history, and cancels its subscription
- cancels invitations you sent that haven’t been accepted
If you signed up with Google and never set a password, set one under Profile › Security first.
Accounts you own
If you’re the primary owner of an account and it has another owner, deleting your profile hands the account to them: the owner who joined first with a verified email and no account of their own becomes the primary owner. Nothing in the account is deleted, and the subscription carries on.
Otherwise, you can’t delete your profile while the account has anyone else in it, whether they see all sites or selected sites. First do one of these:
- make someone an owner, or hand it over with Transfer ownership under Account › Details
- remove the other people from Account › Team
- delete the account
The person you hand it to must not be the primary owner of an account of their own. See Owners.
Delete an account
Only the primary owner can delete an account. Open Account › Details, press Delete account and type the account’s name to confirm.
This deletes the account with its sites, checks, incidents, check history and the stored copies of its files. Everyone in it loses access.
A paid subscription is cancelled at once, not at the end of the period, and the rest of the period isn’t refunded. If Dodo Payments doesn’t answer, nothing is deleted. Try again a minute later.
Your profile stays, so you can still sign in, and sites other people share with you are still there. If you’re in no other account, SEOComet asks you to create a new one.
Before you delete
Nothing you delete can be restored, and we can’t get it back for you.
- If you only want to stop paying, cancel the plan instead. You keep the paid plan to the end of the period, then move to the free one with your sites still there.
- If someone else should run the account, transfer it to them.
- If you only want to stop seeing someone else’s sites, leave them.
Dodo Payments keeps its own records of your payments, as the law requires.
