Leaving a shared site

Stop seeing a site or an account someone shared with you: what you lose, what their account keeps, and how to get access again.

Updated

You can stop seeing sites someone else shared with you at any time. How you leave depends on what you were given: some of their sites, or all of them.

Leave a site

If you were given selected sites, you leave them one at a time.

  1. Open the site’s Settings.
  2. In Shared with you, press Leave this site and confirm.

The site disappears from your site picker and lists, and your Email me about this site emails for it stop.

If it was the only site that account shared with you, you leave the account too.

Leave an account

If you’re on an account’s team and see all its sites, you leave the whole account, not one site. Either:

  • open a site from that account, go to its Settings and press the leave button in Shared with you, or
  • with one of its sites picked, open Account › Team and press Leave account.

You lose every site in that account. You also stop getting its alert emails and your own emails about its sites. If someone added your address to one of its email channels as an extra address, that stays until they remove it. Invitations you sent from that account that haven’t been accepted are cancelled.

Owners can leave too, except the primary owner, who has to transfer that role to someone else first.

What the account keeps

Leaving changes nothing for the account that shared the sites. It keeps the sites, their checks, history, incidents and alerts. Its activity log still shows what you did there.

Your own account and its sites aren’t touched.

Getting access again

You can’t undo leaving yourself. Someone in that account who can invite people has to send you a new invitation.
