Invitations
Invite someone by email to your account or to one site, what they can do once they accept, how long an invitation lasts and how to resend it.
Updated
You invite people by email. You can invite someone to your whole account or to one site. They get a link, and once they accept, they see what you gave them.
Invite to the account
Open Account › Team and press Invite people. Enter their email address, then pick:
- Can edit or Can view
- All sites, or Selected sites and the sites they get
With selected sites, everyone you pick gets the same level here. You can change one site’s level later in that site’s Settings › People.
The owner and people who can edit all sites can invite to the account.
Invite to one site
Open the site’s Settings, go to People and press Invite to this site. Choose Can edit or Can view. They see this site only, nothing else in the account.
The owner, people who can edit all sites and people who can edit this site can invite to it. Someone already in the account can be added to the site from the same section, without an invitation.
If the person already has an invitation waiting for other sites in the account, the new site is added to it and the email goes out again with a fresh link.
Accepting an invitation
The email has a link that works for 7 days. It opens a page that names the account and what the person can do there.
To accept, they sign in with the address the invitation went to, or create an account with it. Signing in with Google works too. The link doesn’t work for anyone signed in with a different address: they need to log out and sign in with the invited one.
They can create an account even while sign-up to SEOComet is closed. The invitation counts as approval for as long as it lasts. Accepting also confirms their email address.
Accepting never replaces anyone’s own account. The new sites show up in their lists next to their own.
If every site in an invitation is deleted before it’s accepted, it no longer gives access to anything. Send a new one.
Pending invitations
Invitations that haven’t been accepted are listed under Pending invitations on Account › Team, with when each one expires. On a site’s People, they show as Invited.
- Resend invitation sends a new link that works for another 7 days. The old link stops working. You can resend one that has already expired.
- Revoke invitation cancels it. The link in their email stops working, and you can invite them again later.
A pending invitation takes a place in your plan’s member limit until it’s accepted, revoked or expires.
Before you can invite
You need a verified email address. Until then, Invite people is turned off and the page offers to send the verification email again.
Your plan also needs room. The member limit counts everyone in the account, you included, plus pending invitations. When it’s full, Invite people is turned off. The owner sees which plan has room for more; anyone else is asked to get the owner to upgrade. See How many people.
You can’t invite someone who’s already in the account. To give them more or less access, change it on Account › Team.
